Gift Guide for Her - Under $50

Gift Guide for Her under $50

Next up in my holiday gift guide series is a Gift Guide for Her under $50! I wanted to include an assortment of pieces you could gift to almost any lady on your list, whether it's your mom, BFF, mother-in-law, coworker—really anyone! And I kept it under $50 because I think it's a bit more relatable and realistic for real life.

Beauty Gifts for Her

For an easy beauty buy, I love Dior Lip Glow. I have it in 001 Universal Pink and it's a natural, balmy pink that's supposed to color-adjust to your own unique chemistry making it goof-proof in terms of color selecting. I also love the Urban Decay Naked Basics eyeshadow palette because it really is basic and is another one that's universal. The color "Naked 2" is a great crease color and is pretty much the one and only eyeshadow I wear! And, every girl needs a beautyblender and if you don't have one—you're missing out!! I also really love the look of nude, clean nails and while a bit pricey for nailcare, Perfect Formulas Gel Coat is the absolute best of the best.

You can't go wrong with something cozy and these bear bootie slippers are too cute, cozy and cuddly. I also love the classic color of this plush scarf and would kill to cozy up in this fleece throw blanket from Urban Outfitters

Cozy Gifts for Her

For the home, I think pretty candles always make a great gift and you can't go wrong with a cute clutch or wallet or something for the bar cart!

Gift Guide - For Home

gift guide for home

Happy holiday season! I can't believe it's already December. This year has flown by and we're back to holiday style posts and gift guides. You guys really enjoyed my Gift Guide for Me, so I wanted to do another one with my Gift Guide for Home. I moved into my new apartment last year and have been slowly but surely filling it with all my favorite things, i.e., making it a home. I feel like I'm in a constant state of having things on 'my list', so I thought it'd be fun to share some of my current favorites/general gift ideas for the home. I hope it's helpful!

A few things on the list?

Coffee/tea anything! I think I've shared before I was on a tea kick after switching from coffee to green tea a few years ago. Well, I'm back on coffee and have found myself reliant on the coffee station in my apartment complex, morning trips to Starbucks, and most recently, instant coffee packets—which I'm not hating on, sometimes you just need to be caffeinated in an instant. BUT, I think it's time to get my very own big-girl coffee machine again and am absolutely loving copper touches. How cute is this Technivorm Glass Coffee Maker from Williams Sonoma? This Cuisinart Coffee Maker from Sur La Table is also super affordable—i.e., under $100! Don't miss an extra 20% off with code GIFT17. It comes out to just over $70.

Gifts for the Coffee Lover

I think I've also mentioned how terrible I've been at keeping plants alive. Why I didn't get my grandma's green thumb, I'll never know and still cry about to this day. I've been trying to add more 'fake life' as I like to call it to my apartment and particularly love this cute faux fiddle leaf fig tree. It's so easy to grab some sort of terrain gift for the home and they're so very 'on-trend' that I thought something 'green' would make a great gift.

Gifts for a (not-so)Green Thumb

Moving on to the bar area, I've been wanting to try a wine purifier for a while and thought it would make a great gift. From what I've heard, the sulfites (or preservatives) in wine are what can cause allergic reactions like flushing, congestion, hives, etc and (though I don't think it's proven) maybe headaches. I love wine but do often get that next-day headache even after just one glass. I know organic wines are supposed to help but I've also had my eye on a purifier to filter out the sulfites from any bottle. I thought this could be a great gift for a wino—or someone who wants to be but can't hang, ha!

As always, I also still have a bar cart on my list and I love the classic yet antique-y mix of wood and brass on this Mid-Century Bar Cart from West Elm

Gifts for the Bar Cart

Finally, in the unique/random/miscellaneous category...I've mentioned I'm recently very into candles and used to sort off loathe receiving them but now I'd take 100. Consider giving the gift of a good-smelling home with an electric diffuser—be sure to include a few scented oils! I also thought this Planter Phone Dock was just really cool, unique and most importantly, useful.

Miscellaneous Home Gifts

Whether these are a gift for a loved one, a white elephant or a gift for you (I won't tell), I think there's something for everyone. What are you still shopping for this season? I'd love to know.

Thanks for reading and enjoy your week!

Gift Guide: My Holiday Wishlist

Happy Thursday, friends! I put together my first gift guide for the season and thought I'd start with something a little different. A gift guide for me! 10 things I've been loving and lusting over—and thought maybe you'd find something you love for yourself, mom, friend, sister, etc. too. :)

1. COZY SWEATER - I love sweaters I can live in all season long. This Free People Cuddle Up sweater quite literally sounds like the perfect thing. It comes in a bunch of colors like black and rose but you know I can never have too many white tops.

2. COZY COAT - You know I recently snagged this camel coat and I just love the classic color. This Kensie Teddy Bear Coat would be so perfect for more casual days to cozy up in.

3. SNEAKERS - I don't Instagram my athleisure outfits as much but I am in sneakers every. single. day. From taking Marlo for a walk in the AM to working out—even to work!—they're my go-to with both leggings and jeans. I'm constantly on the hunt for neutrals I can wear with everything and while Nike Juvenate has typically been my favorite, I've been on an Adidas kick and love this pair. Neutral. Comfy. Cool. Done.

4. NEW BOOTS - I have a pair of Steve Madden over-the-knee boots I bought during Black Friday last year for under $100, which—don't get me wrong!—I love! But it would be my dream to have a pair of Stuart Weitzman boots to last forever and I love the low heel. I also love these Everlane Chelsea Boots for daily wear and these sleek Marc Fisher boots in black.

5. LOAFERS - I've been newly into loafers this past year and I just love how they look casually cool with any ensemble. A (slight) investment pair like these Everlane Loafers in camel would go with everything for every season. But maybe only a California winter. 😅

6. GREY DENIM - I have to admit, I have a couple pairs of grey jeans that I find harder to pair but I just love the faded wash and distressing on these AG Sophie skinnies. I've also been updating all my jeans from mid to high rise, so...I find that a new pair is justified!

7. ESTEE LAUDER MASK BOOST - I'm just getting into facials and masks this year but I've already found a few I'm obsessed with. This Estēe Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Mask Boost is holy grail status. It's meant to bring out a more rested, radiant, energized and restored complexion after just one use and I can say—it really does! I also loved the instantly illuminating finish so much (it somehow just evens out the complexion) I bought the same product in their Wake Up Balm that I now use as a primer for a similar effect.

8. ROSE SCENTED CANDLE - Another new obsession...candles! I can't get enough of them. I've been stocking my collection by snagging random ones from T.J. Maxx and Home Goods and have found I love a clean, fresh scent like rose. I've heard amazing things about these Diptyque candles.

9. DIFFUSER - Again, newly scent/ambiance obsessed and I love the look of this Serene House Supernova one.

10. FIDDLE LEAF FIG - You guys, don't judge me. I killed my fiddle leaf fig. But I realized plants just don't thrive in my apartment because I don't get enough natural light. So, this Christmas, I desperately want to add some (faux) life to my home with a faux fiddle leaf fig. I cute is this Figgie? That's what I'll call him.

So that's (mostly) all. I did add a few more favorites and wants below. What are you hoping for this holiday season and what gift guides would be helpful to see if any? I'd love to know!

This has become my go-to last minute New Year's Eve look. Ultra casual and comfy yet glam is always a winning combination for NYE in my book. I honestly threw this on so quickly and only snapped a few pics for a quick blog post. I don't know if anyone remembers but I bought this exact skirt from Nordstrom Rack just days before New Year's a couple years back and wore something very similar. I swear it's just easy! Metallic skirt, your comfiest sweater and done. You could also do a plain pencil skirt with a sequin or metallic top! I paired this with black booties for comfort but you could easily dress it up even more with strappy heels.

Happy New Year!

To say 2016 flew by would still be an understatement. I mean, it really zoomed. I'm not even 100% sure what I'm doing for New Year's Eve yet this year, but I'm planning on snagging some sort of snazzy sequin (or velvet) number to have on-hand for the occasion. Last year was fairly mellow with bar-hopping in San Francisco, but I still wore a sequin tee! I found a couple similar ones this year from ASOS and J.Crew Factory. I also found a TON of amazing dresses—the kind that make me want to actually dress up. I'm just slightly obsessed with sequin dresses and velvet and rounding up all of my faves below.

Happy holidays! x Tyler

Casual Fall Outfit.jpg

Everyone needs a camel sweater. Everyone. I love the light tan tone of this Trouvé sweater from Nordstrom. I wish I snapped a pic without the coat, but it's actually an asymmetrical hem and oh-so-perfect. It also comes in at least 7 other colors, including burgundy. I'm wearing an XXS.

I topped it with this duster coat from Missguided, which is perfect for this California fall. It's faux wool, so has the look of wool without quite as much insulation. But don't get me wrong—it's still warm. It just feels a bit more lightweight and wearable for California fall to winter temps. Almost like a "coatigan."

These light neutrals paired with white denim is one of my favorite fall color combos, but I love this sweater with denim in any color, including black and olive! Instead, my pop was this olive crossbody from ASOS. It's a steal at $38 and I love the shape and silhouette.

Black Friday Purchases

Black Friday Sale Items: Cashmere sweater . Rebecca Minkoff bag here and here . Ray-Ban's .

Black Friday Sale Items: Cashmere sweater. Rebecca Minkoff bag here and here. Ray-Ban's

I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving! I wanted to take a minute to review some of my favorite Black Friday finds with you all. One of my favorite purchases from last year was this Halogen cashmere sweater and it's back on sale and a steal at $55. It comes in 15 colors and I'm wearing an xs. I also found this Rebecca Minkoff Regan satchel in the color "tawny" on sale, which is so close to my almond one. This is my "goes-with-everything" bag and fits my Macbook Air perfectly. I linked my sunglasses on sale, too!

Black Friday Sale Items: Topshop top . Current/Elliott jeans .

Black Friday Sale Items: Topshop top. Current/Elliott jeans

I almost never met a feminine top I didn't like. I looooove this one from Topshop (the color is a bit more pink in person) and it's another steal at $30. I'm wearing a US 2.

Black Friday Sale Items: Sweater: Madewell . Jeans: Current/Elliott

Black Friday Sale Items: Sweater: Madewell. Jeans: Current/Elliott

This Madewell rolled turtleneck is maybe the softest I've ever worn. I love the neutral tone and how cozy it is. I'm actually wearing a medium because that's all they had in store, but I plan to order a small. I normally wear an xs, but I prefer the relaxed fit, so consider sizing up if you're the same. It's on sale for $52. I'm also obsessed with these Current/Elliott Stiletto jeans. I've never worn this brand, but they're SO comfy and I love the distress. I'm wearing my normal size. They run a little big through the waist (at least on me), but they fit so well otherwise, so I can deal or wear a belt. :)

Black Friday Sale Item. Jacket: Forever21

Black Friday Sale Item. Jacket: Forever21

Next purchase was this Forever21 faux suede jacket in olive—only $25, so I grabbed it in black too. (oops) It looks more like grey here, but it's definitely a soft olive and I really love it. I'm wearing a small.

Black Friday Sale Item: Jacket: BlankNYC

Black Friday Sale Item: Jacket: BlankNYC

I actually bought this BlankNYC faux leather moto this past spring and it's now back in stock and on major sale—$51! It's one of my favorite brands for faux leather and I always wear an xs in their outerwear. I have this jacket in black too and love it, but I like the grey for a bit of a changeup and how it feels lighter for wear for every season. BlankNYC is also always my go-to for nights out.

Black Friday Sale Item: OTK Boots: Steve Madden .

Black Friday Sale Item: OTK Boots: Steve Madden

Finally, I got TWO new pairs of boots. I didn't get a picture quite yet, but I grabbed this perfect pair of Franco Sarto block heel ankle boots with the cutest buckle detail. I love them a lot, but what I'm really, REALLY excited about is these Steve Madden over-the-knee boots. I have the hardest time ever finding tall boots that are fitted through the legs without any sort of bunching and gapping. I didn't want to spend $800 on the Stuart Weiztman Lowland, but I love these as a dupe. Sorry for the poor pic and showing them against black denim, but they're definitely the sleekest I've found and are a great price—just $96!

Oh and then I bought two Rebecca Minkoff bags from Shopbop that I've been needing and wanting—a crossbody in almond and one in mushroom. My go-to, goes-with-everything favorite styles!

Feel free to check out the rest of my Black Friday Sale roundup! x Tyler

I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving! I spent the day with family—my mom and I did our annual walk with the pups—and of course, enjoyed the Thanksgiving feast. Honestly, food is always my favorite. After family...

Who's heading out to Black Friday shop? If you're smart, you're set up at your computer snagging all the deals in the comfort of your home—and pj's! If you're looking for some great deals to shop for yourself (or gifts!) for the holidays, read on! I already grabbed this Rebecca Minkoff bag and this Rebecca Minkoff bag from Shopbop.
