Apple Hill + Pumpkin Patch Outfit - Plaid Blazer

We had the best time at Apple Hill in Placerville this past weekend and it made it officially feel like fall for me—finally! The sun was shining but the crisp, cool (ahem 68-degree) morning was gorgeous and a 2-hour drive with the sunroof open, winding through Apple Hill gave me all the fall feels I was craving.

I was fairly warned a weekend trip to Apple Hill would be packed and, to be fair, it really was. I think it took us 45 minutes to go the last 1.5 miles but, you guys, it was so worth it. We made it to Boa Vista Orchards and it’s filled with cute little vendors, a market that’s open year-round serving up sweet apple baked goods, ciders, wines and plenty of apple goodies plus a separate deli that serves traditional burgers and sandwiches (we may have started our morning with a corn dog) and, of course, a pumpkin patch. If you’re looking for serious fall inspiration, Apple Hill is it.

They had more apples than I could ever name or remember, barrels of pumpkins, sprawling views of the orchard and a Christmas tree farm, which I would love to come back for. We didn’t end up having time for actual apple picking but it’s on my fall bucket list and, for this trip, we enjoyed the apples, ciders and apple donuts. Tip on the donuts: get a dozen. Take them home, warm them up, thank me later. They’re like apple cake donuts. So. So. Good.

I had several questions about this blazer I wore, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to share details. I snagged this at Nordstrom Rack and it’s selling out in most sizes there but I did find it available at a couple additional retailers HERE and HERE. I adore this blazer and it’s a really soft, comfy fit with plenty of stretch. For reference, I’m normally a xs/small and went with the small which is perfect for a flattering fit with room to layer. If you tend to be in between sizes like that and prefer a relaxed, boyfriend fit or just want something you can layer over sweaters, I’d size UP. I’m 5’6” and it just about covers my butt. I don’t wear a lot of blazer styles but I LOVE this and how it acts like a jacket. I can see this worn so many ways, with jeans, over dresses, for work, paired with bold blouses for the holidays…so, so versatile and I hope you grab it!

I layered this over my new Anthropologie pointelle sweater tee, which I am so in love with. It’s such a perfect piece to layer and the fit is very flattering. Great for tucking and it doesn’t bunch up. Just a seamless fit. To be honest, I plan to only wear this tucked. I’m in an xs. FYI, some reviews say it’s sheer but I didn’t experience that and wore a nude bra.

I tucked it into this Free People skirt and while this exact style is sold out, they have a nearly identical version available without the front zip and it’s just as cute. I’m in a size 2 and wear a 25/26 in denim.

If you’re a Bay Area local, I’d love to hear if you’ve been to Apple Hill! We plan to go back but will definitely consider a weekday if possible!

As always, thank you for reading and HAPPY FALL!
