An Easy Way to Wear a Lace Cami

An Easy Way to Wear a Lace Cami

Two things to keep in rotation in your closet no matter the season: lace camisoles and duster cardigans.

A lace camisole is an easy step-up from your basic cotton cami and a silk or satin fabric so easily makes your look feel elevated and effortless. I recently added this white lace cami from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (similar in-stock options linked below) to my collection and it’s a fresh addition to my basic black, navy and olive camisoles. The styling options are endless for a cami in any color, whether worn alone or layered up. I love how it can make a pair of jeans (or even denim shorts) feel instantly dressed-up.

Trunk Club Women - My First Winter Trunk

Trunk Club Review | white mockneck sweater

Happy holiday weekend, friends! I had my first Trunk Club Trunk delivered this week and so many of you expressed an interest in seeing a roundup of what I received, so I wanted to get a post up here for you to reference and thought I’d start with a few FAQ’s before diving into the pieces.

What is Trunk Club?

Trunk Club is a Nordstrom-owned styling service for men and women. You are paired up with a Stylist and are able to request a Trunk when you need one or setup automatic deliveries—monthly, quarterly, etc.

How does Trunk Club work?

When you sign up, you fill out a Style Profile so your Stylist is able to get an idea of your style and what you’re looking for. You’re able to chat with your Stylist throughout the process and review your Trunk before it ships. You then have 5 days after you receive your Trunk to try everything on, keep what you want and send back what you don’t. You can schedule a pickup for your Trunk or drop your Trunk off at a UPS or Nordstrom location.

Is there a fee?

There is a $25 styling fee which is credited towards any purchase but this fee is waived if you’re a Nordstrom cardholder.

Do you have a referral code?

Unfortunately, I do not have a referral code but you can use my referral link.

Who is your Stylist?

My Trunk Club Stylist is Lauren Wenstrup. and if you use my referral link, you will be paired up with her.

Many of you may know I used to work for Stitch Fix, which is a similar service. I wanted to try Trunk Club because I already shop heavily at Nordstrom and know and love the brands they carry—the same brands I’ll see in my Trunks, while discovering new ones. I’m in the process of really curating a classic wardrobe I can rely on. I’m truly trying to shop LESS. So, I’m requesting wardrobe staples in each Trunk—every two months— while letting a Stylist help get me out of my box just enough.

My First Trunk Club Trunk

Madewell Sweater | Levi’s Jeans | March Fisher Booties

My first favorite piece is this Madewell sweater. I asked my Stylist for mock neck styles and she delivered. This one is a great weight and works well both tucked and untucked. It comes in a few colors and I’m wearing an XS. Fit is TTS.

I have it tucked into these Levi’s 501 jeans which you guys know I love. These seem to be a bit stretchier than the light wash, true-denim pair I always wear. I size up to a 26 in those but these fit great in the 25. I also love the raw hem detailing. I thought these were black at first but think they may actually be a really dark, inky blue—FYI.

I also asked my Stylist for everyday booties and these Marc Fisher booties were one of the two pairs she included—I LOVE them! They’re a great low heel for everyday wear but have a pointy toe and just enough edge to dress them up for night, as well. These might run a bit big. I’m normally between an 8 and 8.5. My Stylist sent the 8.5 but I will probably exchange to try the size 8.

Madewell Sweater | Levi’s Jeans | March Fisher Booties

I swapped out the white sweater for this Madewell cashmere mockneck next, which is a thinner material that feels lightweight, yet warm, and is really effortless. It’s slightly cropped but still easy to tuck. I think this golden tone may be sold out but it comes in a few colors and is definitely a cool and classic staple. I’m in an XS.

Twill Blazer | Levi’s Jeans | March Fisher Booties

I’ve been really into blazers lately, which I told my Stylist. She added this twill double breasted blazer and I absolutely adore the fit. It’s a slightly higher price point but the quality is there and I can see this working well for both work and play. I’d probably wear it more casually with light wash jeans and sneakers. I am wearing the size 0.

Madewell Wrap Top | Levi’s Jeans —also available HERE

I’m always looking for tops that I can dress up for dinner or an evening out—especially in these cooler months. I don’t know about you but my long-sleeve, dressy blouse collection is definitely lacking. I love the fall/winter twist on floral this Madewell Wrap Top has. I’m wearing the XXS and I’m normally an XS so I’m this runs slightly big.

My First Trunk Club Trunk |

I would probably wear this with a faux leather moto jacket for night time or even a cardigan for something more casual for daytime.

Leith Cardigan | Marc Fisher Booties

This Leith cardigan is also a Trunk Club piece and it is beyond soft! This is for sure a keeper and I may have to grab it in a few other colors it comes in—I know it’s currently on sale! It’s so soft and not at all itchy. I’m in the XXS and am 5’6” for reference.

Steve Madden Ankle Boots

The second pair of booties I received were these Steve Madden Chelsea boots. I honestly thought I might return them—I have so many brown ankle boots that somehow go unworn. But these are SO good and are somehow just what I was missing. I love the height, color, comfort factor—everything. I am always consistently an 8.5 in Steve Madden and these are tts. They’re also an AMAZING price at $99. 95 and come in several colors.

Madison & Berkely Midi Dress

This sweet floral midi dress was included in my Trunk and it’s such a fun, unique and feminine piece. I can see this working in fall and winter with booties and a wool coat, trench coat or moto jacket—or even for a winter wedding! I’m in an XS and I needed a bit of help zipping it, so if you’re in between sizes—size up!

In an effort to get this post up, I didn’t have a chance to share all 12 pieces in my Trunk but figured I’d start with my favorites. So far, I’m so happy with the process and what I received and I definitely plan to continue in the hopes to add some great new pieces to my collection. You can find out more and get your own trunk HERE.

Let me know if you have any questions at all and, as always, thank you for reading!

Flat cognac Mules Brown Flat Slides

I never knew it until last week (i.e. when I got my first pair) but everyone needs a pair of mules (or backless loafers) in their closet. And I mean everyone. I'm a big fan of flats and these just somehow take flats to the next level. It's been so nice to get out of all my boots, booties and sneakers and slip into this style for spring.

This pair by Sam Edelman from Nordstrom honestly might just be the shoe that's missing from your closet. They're the perfect classic loafer style, the cognac color goes with everything and the tassels give them a fun and on-trend touch. To say I'm obsessed would be an understatement.

I've been wearing them with everything since I got them and the best part is—they really do go with everything. I swear they make any outfit feel instantly chic and I kind of can't even wait to wear them with shorts and sweaters as the weather warms. They're such a classic and easy style and the slide aspect makes them the perfect airy silhouette for spring.

I usually wear an 8 or 8.5 and ordered these in the 8.5 and they fit perfectly. I would say they're true to size but if you're in between sizes, size UP! They come in a bunch of colors and even prints. I've also had my eye on a few other mules from Nordstrom like this Steve Madden pair, this Free People pair in black and these in rose gold and blush. (heart eyes)

I first wore these loafers with my new favorite Madewell white tee and love how they take a jeans and tee outfit to the next level. They're just as perfect with this flirty, floral, wrap top from Nordstrom that's pretty perfect for spring. I bought my first wrap top last summer and you guys...I knew they were flattering but it's crazy just how flattering. So cute with jeans, shorts come spring or even layered under a blazer for work. And extra perfect with my new loafers. I'm wearing an xs and sized UP in my Topshop jeans

You guys, if I had to live in one pair of shorts for the rest of my life, this would be the pair. They're the Socialite Woven Shorts from Nordstrom and are the most comfortable, perfectly relaxed style I own and are so good I bought them in three colors—navy, olive and black. They're priced really well at $38 and I'm wearing an XS for size reference.

This Kimchi Blue Goldie Floral Flutter-Sleeve Tee from Urban Outfitters is also pretty adorable. From the floral to the flutter sleeves—it's kind of perfect. It also has an open, split-back and last time I checked it was half off making it under $25.

This Hugh bag was one of my first purchases from ShoeDazzle—along with this tie blouse—and I really love how it goes with everything and is super crazy soft. ShoeDazzle is one of those "monthly showroom" sites and when I saw this bag it was the first month I decided not to "skip." I'll definitely be paying more attention, because it seems like they have some really well-priced gems.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Early Access

One of my absolute favorite sales ever, ever, ever is here and I wanted to share the details with you in case you're not familiar. The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is definitely the best of the year. It's when Nordstrom releases new fall merchandise at a discounted price for a limited amount of time. To my knowledge, it's one of the only sales where you get to shop NEW pieces at a discount and one of my favorite sales to take advantage of. Your most coveted designer items—Rebecca Minkoff, Tory Burch, Cole Haan, Theory—at seriously steals.

What dates do I need to know?

Early access to the sale is available to Nordstrom cardholders (either credit or debit) and if you're not one, I highly recommend it. I have a Nordstrom Debit Card, which is just a rewards card that links directly to your personal bank account, but still allows you to reap the amazing benefits that Nordstrom has to offer—like getting a $20 Nordstrom note with every $100 you spend. Honestly, it's the best. You can read more details and sign up here. As I mentioned, if you're signed up you also get early access to the sale. Cardholders can shop the sale from July 14th-21st, while the sale officially opens to the public on July 22nd. Sale ends August 7th!

How should I prepare for the #NSale?

Now is the time to start thinking ahead to your fall wardrobe. I love summer clothes, but this is the sale that gets me crazy excited for fall. Take a peek at your wardrobe or think of what you were lacking last season. Last year, my biggest purchase was a pair of black suede Cole Haan booties (shown above) and I swear they will be my forever pair. I knew my biggest need was a nice pair of booties that I could dress up or down for every occasion, so that's what I splurged on. And when I say splurge, I mean a $300 pair of boots at 40% off. So they were definitely still a steal even splurging. If you found yourself lusting over designer handbags last season—this is your best opportunity to snag one of your very own. I'll be continuing to post throughout the sale and I'm also adding my faves to the Shop tab on my blog.

A lot of love for anything off-the-shoulder, cold-shoulder, no-shoulder lately. I may have added seven off-shoulder tops to my wardrobe this season. (Ok yea I did. I bought THREE new ones just the other day.) I love them all (obviously), but I'm especially all the heart eyes over this hot pink cold-shoulder from Nordstrom. I generally don't gravitate towards color, but I've recently been on a hot pink kick—maybe because peonies are in season??—and I had to have it. It also comes in white and I was planning on getting that, but I decided to diversify my wardrobe just a little bit.

It's a steal at $38 (mine's an xs) and it's perfectly flirty and feminine. I like how it contrasts against charcoal and how a black bag and studded shoes add a bit of edge. These are the shoes I have in nude and I'm really glad I got the black, because honestly how could I not have black flats? I think the mixture of edgy and feminine is the epitome of my style, but this top would look really pretty with white denim and tan wedges or even tucked into cutoff shorts for a casual look this summer.

I also really have a lot of love for my new layered necklace! I realized I kind of stopped wearing necklaces in favor of rings, but this piece adds the perfect delicate touch to any look.

Hope you all have an amazing week and great Memorial Day weekend!
