The Most Flattering Top

I’ve said it before but I truly think a wrap top is flattering on pretty much any frame. It nips in at the waist and creates that instant hourglass silhouette that, let’s face it—doesn’t every woman want?

I adore this J.Crew wrap top and love how it’s the perfect twist on a classic button-down but even blousier styles are just as flattering. I think knit styles are perfect for added comfort but there's something about a little structure and flounce from silkier styles that make me feel more confident in a wrap silhouette. Do you find this, as well?

I think a wrap top is one of those wardrobe workhorses that you can pull out to pair with jeans for day to date night or dress up with black (or any color) trousers for an easy work-ready ensemble. I added light-wash, distressed jeans to dress the top down but you could also try your wrap tops with dark denim for a dressed-up feel.

As always, thank you for reading!

Summer is quickly flying by and I'm finding myself gravitating more and more towards transitional pieces that will effortlessly take me into fall. One wardrobe staple I rely on to do so has to be the brown ankle boot, yet I actually find it incredibly hard to find a flattering pair with a low and comfortable heel. Enter the Yatina by Marc Fisher LTD from Zappos

I'm all about timeless styles made even better with a bit of edge. These booties are just that. They're a classic style that can pair with everything from dresses to denim. I love the casual luxe vibe thanks to the buckle and metallic detailing at the pointed toe. I actually threw these on with no socks and was amazed I had zero issues. I love that the heel isn't too high—just 1.5 inches—making them practical for daily wear well into fall and winter.

This is my first pair of Marc Fisher LTD boots and I'm so impressed with the quality. The color I'm wearing is "Farro Suede" and I can see them pairing with everything, including my favorite fall neutrals but they do also come in black and another really great gray-brown tone that would be super versatile, effortless and clean.

I'm in-between sizes and I sized UP and they fit perfectly. We've had some slightly cooler days that I've been able to wear some pre-fall favorites and can't wait to step fully into fall with these suede booties from Zappos. How are you transitioning into fall?

Another day, another white top & denim look. Probably my forever go-to combination. I've been clearly (possibly way too) obsessed with off-the-shoulder tops this season, but this one from SheIn is actually so completely different than any other I've ever seen, so...yes. It was a yes.

Most of my others are flowy, so I was instantly intrigued by the crisp fabric. It's almost like a white button-down, but off-the-shoulder & not at all a button-down. It has that crisp & clean feeling though, is what I mean. Button down with a major twist. 🙌🏼  The sleeves are actually self-tie & wrap around your arm, which was a little tricky at first (I needed help) but worth the overall effect. I'm wearing a small & it's pretty much a crazy steal at $10.99!

One of my favorite pieces of outerwear that I reach for to complete a look is a faux leather jacket. I have several dark colored options and pretty much always reach for the same one for a night out or to add a touch of edge to any look, but recently I realized I was lacking a major staple. One in tan/beige/camel/caramel/light brown! With spring quickly approaching I decided it was a must-have transitional laying piece, and a great way to lighten up my go-to faux leather look.

I had been on the hunt for awhile (well--a couple weeks, but that's a long time to be dreaming about ONE particular item of clothing that you haven't found am I right?) and this one from Fevrie fit the bill perfectly! It's their Pretty Pleats Jacket and I love how it has the edginess of faux leather with unique perforated detailing, but also takes on a sweet and feminine vibe from the pleats. I love the lighter, brighter, and fresher feel that the tan color gives for the warmer months and LOVE that it will look gorgeous paired with summer lights and brights!

Would you believe me if I said that up until now I didn't own a plaid or flannel shirt? I know--crazy right? They're kind of a wardrobe staple and I guess I didn't realize it until now. This particular one from Blush Boutique is a great weight and length--long enough to pair with leggings, can easily be tied around the waist for that 90s flannel grunge look, and love that the green is a bit of a change up from the typical red/buffalo plaid. I can see it paired with liquid leggings or transitioned into spring with distressed or white denim shorts.

For a casual weekend look, I paired it with these dark wash skinnies also from Blush Boutique. They're perfectly distressed at the knees, super comfy, and can easily go from day to night. I don't know what it is, but somehow I always feel more chic in distressed denim and these ones are perfect for that casual chic style.

Be sure to check out Blush Boutique and get 15% off your first purchase! Woop!

Weekends in my book are all about comfort. Honestly, sometimes I don't even change out of workout wear. And I probably didn't even work out. Just sayin. Typically, I'll throw on a pair of jeans and a baseball cap and call it a day, but I think you're kind of winning when your jeans and baseball cap are actually a little bit presentable. Distressed denim + sweater + baseball cap + leopard oxfords = out the door in the easiest casual weekend look.

This Jcrew cap was from last year, but they still have a similar style, or you can check out some of my current faves below. Leopard print and buffalo plaid?? Swooning.

Stripes are definitely one of those staple wardrobe items that every woman should own. From summer tanks, to winter sweaters and vests, stripes really are classic, versatile, and timeless. They're kind of the most basic print you can get and make for a great base for a little pattern play. And the easiest way to jump into some print mixing is with a little stripe on stripe action!

Enter: The striped vest. Puffer vests are EVERYWHERE this season and with good reason. They're comfy and warm (without the bulk of a jacket) and are so easy to layer over any look. They really are a great way to add interest to a simple sweater (or striped top for some pattern play!) I snagged this one from Jcrew last year, and it goes with everything! If you're still on the hunt for a striped vest, check out my picks below or keep an eye out at your local T.J. Maxx or Marshall's!

FYI, snag this necklace (one of my faves to add a touch of sparkle) for 50% off (that means only $19.25!) with code CYBER50 at Benevolent Jewels!
