With the countdown to New Year's Eve quickly dwindling I was starting to get a little worried about the most important thing--my outfit! Duh. Never mind the fact that I still have no idea what I'm actually doing, I thought I should at least have one of my bases covered. Enter: The Metallic Skirt. I snagged this speckled midi skirt at Nordstrom Rack and thought it would be the perfect thing to dress up or down. Just the right amount of glamour, while still being comfortable, practical, and most importantly, wearable into the wee hours of the New Year. If you're still procrastinating on your New Year's look, swing by Nordstrom Rack or throw on something--anything!--metallic or sparkly and call it a day. ;)

Now we all know that the LBD (little black dress) is one of those closet staples that every woman should own, but I think another staple that doesn't seem to get as much notoriety, is the little black skirt. Admittedly, I didn't even own a little black skirt (let's call it the LBS) until last year, but I can confidently say that it really is a closet staple. Whether pencil, skater, or even faux leather, a little black skirt is a great base, especially for a chic fall or winter look.

I pulled mine out with plans to dress it up with pretty blouses and sweaters for the holidays, and as I was mixing and matching I fell in love with its versatility. I was planning on a pretty blouse and sparkly jewels, but love the casual look it took on with a soft pullover and cozy sweater vest. I snagged this one from Marshall's last year, but found this one from Forever 21 that's very similar. (And only $10.90!) They both have a velveteen pattern that gives it a luxe look, but the one from Forever is FLORAL! Swoon.

I got a lot of comments on this vest the last time I wore it and if you don't have luck at Nordstrom Rack, it looks like Kohl's has the same one! Shop the look below for details!

I was soooo excited to finally have a dip in the temperatures, so that I could finally wear my blanket scarf. I have been waiting through weeks of 90 degree weather here in the Bay Area, and I'm really hoping that cooler temps are here to stay.

I wanted this infamous scarf last year and kicked myself for not getting it, but there have been so many versions floating around that I finally decided to grab one. I ended up getting this one on eBay for $12.99, and I'm so glad I did. It's super soft, and HUGE, and I'm in love. I may have also ordered the checkered version from GroupDealz when it popped up, so I would recommend signing up for their emails if you aren't already.

I paired it with one of my new favorite cardigans from Sheinside. It's one of the ones I waited a month for and I couldn't be happier with it. It's a really great weight and has a fun faux leather trim, which I've been all about lately. Comfy, soft, and cozy with a touch of edge. You can find it here.

I don't know what's wrong with me, but I seem can't seem to stay away from ASOS. It's my retail therapy of choice, and I always seem to find something I have to have. This printed blouse instantly had me swooning and I knew it had to be mine. I'm not really sure if it's actually floral, but that's the vibe I get from the abstract/graphic/watercolor print, so that's what I'm going with. It's comfy and cotton, but has pretty, sheer details along the shoulders, as well as the sides. I threw it on with jeans and ankle boots and added a faux leather jacket for night. Can we talk about this Forever21 bag though?? Celine-inspired, that amazing oxblood/bordeaux/red for fall, and all in all just kind of perfect. The best part? Less than $35! Yea, you need it.

Those Fall Skirts

I'm not gonna lie. I almost cried when when the weather jumped up into the 90's again, but then I remembered that meant I can get just a little more use out of my summer faves, and all was alright. I love skirts for Fall paired with boots or ankle boots and cozy knits and sweaters and while it's not quite sweater weather, this J.Crew striped skirt that was so popular last summer still got a Fall twist with shades of grey. My Abound booties have quickly become a new fave and have been making me feel like it's Fall even when the weather does not. They really go with everything and I love that they dress down a classic pencil skirt and give a touch of edge. I mean... they're just cool right? Seriously, run to Nordstrom Rack and see for yourself. ;)

It's officially Fall and while the weather may not know it, I'm still determined to at least dress like it's Fall. I told you I got new ankle boots from Nordstrom Rack this weekend and I couldn't wait to wear them! They are a gorgeous taupey-grey, have a cute little V dip on both sides, crisscross buckles (that I may have just now realized are supposed to crisscross, although I kind of prefer them not crossed anyway) and to top it all off--they have the most perfect heel height that makes them easy to dress up or down. They're really just cool boots, especially paired with distressed denim and a comfy knit for a touch of softness.

This sweater vest (with pockets!) was also a Nordstrom Rack find. Seriously, run to Nordstrom Rack ASAP. This one is so cozy and has a really great effortless vibe. It's the perfect thing for transitioning into sweater weather, whether paired with a simple tee or layered over a summer dress. It's all about those Fall layers after all and I really love a good neutral layered look.

Oh, floral print. I adore you. I tend to welcome spring with floral and gravitate towards it throughout the summer months, but lately I've been thinking about how I can incorporate it into Fall, as well. Scarves, knits, blazers?? While I wasn't expecting to start the Fall season in shorts, I knew I had to at least give them a Fall spin. I thought this was the perfect look for the transition. Classic woven shorts and a floral knit with neutral (and gold) accessories.

I picked up these Franco Sarto d'orsay flats from Nordstrom Rack over the weekend and I'm so excited to have them for Fall. I've totally fallen in love with d'orsay flats and heels (so flattering and hello, lengthening!) and I love the classic color of these. Nordstrom Rack had a great selection of boots and booties (and sweaters and jackets and way too many things I had to resist) but I would highly recommend stopping by if you have one near you and are on the hunt for Fall shoes. My sister got the most gorgeous pair of Rebecca Minkoff d'orsay flats (like sister, like sister) and I grabbed a must have pair of ankle boots, as well. :)

Thanks for reading and Happy Fall!
