Basics on a Budget | Spring Edit

Basics on a Budget | Spring Edit

No matter the season, there’s nothing I love more than throwing on easy staples. While I’m a huge proponent of investing in quality over quantity, sometimes your wardrobe just needs staples that don’t break the bank. Staples you can live in, get dirty in, play with your kids (or dogs) in, workout in—without worrying about wearing them out and spending more to replace them each season.

I know it’s unrealistic to think everyone is able to justify spending $60+ on one shirt and while I know a lot of you appreciate my everyday, “basic” style, some of you do express you’d like to see more affordable options. Today, I’m partnering with Walmart to celebrate fashion for all—at prices everyone can feel good about. Their fresh new spring shop features bold stripes, modern romance and cool cottons but you guys know I’m all about those classic wardrobe staples: my effortless neutrals.

Disclaimer: I wore this outfit and wrote this blog post back in April and somehow never published it! I had somewhat put these rugged black 721 Levi's away for the hot summer months but now that fall is around the corner, they'll certainly be making an appearance in my everyday wardrobe rotation. And I just found them on sale for $49.95, so I thought I'd share!

I wore them with this white ruffle top from H&M paired with white slide sandals this spring but I can totally see this same outfit working with brown booties, a fedora hat or maybe an olive utility jacket or brown moto jacket for a fall spin. I really love the feminine vibe of this top paired with slightly edgy bottoms like these for a look that feels effortless and not overly girly. It's definitely easy to throw on and feel put together.

Unfortunately, this exact top has now sold out but I did link a few dupes below for you. Definitely, don't hesitate to grab these jeans for fall! For sizing reference, I am in between sizes and sized UP to a 26 in these. I tend to do that with higher cotton-content Levi's styles. If it helps, I am also 5'6" and also cuff the hem to hit at the ankle.

As always, thank you for reading!

The Most Flattering Top

I’ve said it before but I truly think a wrap top is flattering on pretty much any frame. It nips in at the waist and creates that instant hourglass silhouette that, let’s face it—doesn’t every woman want?

I adore this J.Crew wrap top and love how it’s the perfect twist on a classic button-down but even blousier styles are just as flattering. I think knit styles are perfect for added comfort but there's something about a little structure and flounce from silkier styles that make me feel more confident in a wrap silhouette. Do you find this, as well?

I think a wrap top is one of those wardrobe workhorses that you can pull out to pair with jeans for day to date night or dress up with black (or any color) trousers for an easy work-ready ensemble. I added light-wash, distressed jeans to dress the top down but you could also try your wrap tops with dark denim for a dressed-up feel.

As always, thank you for reading!
