Fact: One of the quickest ways to comfort is shearling. From shearling and sherpa socks to sherpa sweats, pullovers and sweaters…having this ultra-soft texture in your closet this season can help make you feel cozy in an instant. It’s one of those looks that oozes casual comfort and, in my opinion, is a great staple style to have in your collection.

With the start of fall and all through winter, out come the teddy coats in shades of brown like tan, camel and cognac. These are great for adding warmth to your wardrobe but there’s something about creamy winter white that gives a fresh and lighter feel this time of year—something that’s so often welcome and needed as we’re wishing for and dreaming of spring.

Like I mentioned, I love the way these cozy styles like sherpa, fleece and faux shearling add an almost instant casual appeal to any outfit. When a silky or satiny top feels a bit too dressy or a fitted knit seems too “slick,” adding this texture in a layer can have a really great casual-cool effect. It’s also just an easy layer to throw on with almost everything for day-to-day wear, especially in a creamy tone like this—it goes with everything!

I layered mine from Nordstrom (similar here) over a really great long-sleeved knit knot-front top I picked up recently from Madewell and also available here. I love the fit and feel of this one and it’s one of those staple styles you can wear every season.

Of course, I pulled out a trusted pair of high rise Levi’s 721 jeans (tts) and slipped into my M.Gemi Corsa ankle boots for all day comfort. I can totally see this cozy white sherpa style taking me into spring with white or cropped denim and sneakers or even being great beach days and summer nights with cutoff shorts.

As always, thank you so much for reading!

I fully believe everyone needs a teddy coat in their collection. They’re definitely a trendy style for the season but it’s also a style you’ll want to pull out each season when the weather changes. Since I snagged a couple low-end styles to test the trend last year, this year I decided to splurge a little on something a bit more high-quality and classic. Enter this perfect Madewell Sherpa Jacket

I absolutely love the silhouette of this one. It’s not overly oversized or too slouchy like some I’ve seen and actually has a bit of structure which, to me, helps it feel a bit more classic. I also love the golden brown tone that adds a rich fall hue to any outfit combination. It’s super soft and the inside is lined with silky fabric. This is truly something I’ve been reaching for morning and night to take the dogs out or just run outside. I even throw it on for extra warmth at my very casual office. It’s just a great casual layer for fall and winter and something you can reach for daily.

I can see this teddy coat looking cute with any color denim (like black for an edgy look) and even a cute and comfy skirt + over the knee boot combo this season. For sizing reference, I’m generally an xs or small and went with the size small.

As always, thank you so much for reading!

Patent Leather Booties

I think it's so fun having a unique pair of fashion boots in your collection and these Tahari patent leather boots from 6pm are just that. They're sleek and sophisticated with just the right amount of sass. Definitely a must-have in your footwear repertoire and I love how they can take you from casual to work to play.

They have a cool and edgy vibe to give your everyday distressed denim a bit of interest which is how I paired them here but would look just as great with a mini skirt and blouse for evening wear. I also can't wait to try them with an all-black ensemble like a black denim, black sweater combo. My workplace is incredibly casual but I think they'd look great paired with black trousers for the workplace, as well.

I think patent leather can be intimidating to style but their shine really just adds a sleek and sophisticated note to any look and you can easily swap them in for any of your everyday black bootie styles. I love how affordable Tahari shoes are for the quality and these are such a steal at $54.99 from 6pm and I did find they run true to size to slightly big. I tend to be in between sizes and I sized UP, however, I would have been fine not doing so.

I love the luxurious feel of these Tahari booties so I added a cozy yet glam teddy bear coat topper and minimal accessories to complete the ensemble.

This was my first pair of patent leather boots in my collection and I can't wait to wear them again and again. Do you have a pair?

Thanks for reading!
