Levi's Shorts and Comfy Summer to Fall Flats

There’s been lots of talk of fall on Instagram but I’m personally still holding onto summer and these warmer temps. I am, however, slowly adding more fall-ready staples into my closet. My biggest summer shopping trend was not focusing too much on, well, trends. I tried my best to think about how every new addition to my closet would really work in my wardrobe. And not just work for one event, one Instagram post, one outfit…really work beyond those boundaries.

One of my favorite summer shoe staples I’ll 100% be taking into fall: the Everlane Day Glove. I have these in the Caramel color and they are buttery-soft, leather ballet flats that fit like a glove. I gravitate towards nude shoe tones because they not only go with everything but they really elongate the leg. It’s just a flattering look down the leg line. I also usually prefer a pointed toe for this reason but there’s something about this ballet style that just feels just as chic and effortless. FYI, these come in tons of colors and even new suede options.

An Easy Way to Wear a Lace Cami

Two things to keep in rotation in your closet no matter the season: lace camisoles and duster cardigans.

A lace camisole is an easy step-up from your basic cotton cami and a silk or satin fabric so easily makes your look feel elevated and effortless. I recently added this white lace cami from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (similar in-stock options linked below) to my collection and it’s a fresh addition to my basic black, navy and olive camisoles. The styling options are endless for a cami in any color, whether worn alone or layered up. I love how it can make a pair of jeans (or even denim shorts) feel instantly dressed-up.

A Black and White Summer Outfit

This summer, I’m trying to say “no” to too many trends and keep my closet as classic as can be. So, easy and effortless outfits have become my favorite summer go-to. I’m not saying I won’t try anything trendy and fun for the season (I love a good printed midi dress or skirt as much as the next person) but there’s something that just makes you feel good when you know your seasonal items are going to last through the season and beyond. And when you can wear them in so many ways. 🙌🏼

A Day Trip to Napa

Whenever the weather starts to warm up around here one of my favorite things to do is head to Napa Valley. It’s a pretty quick trip for us living in the Bay Area (about a 45 minute drive), so it’s easy to do a day trip for a little wine tasting, eating, relaxing, shopping, exploring—really anything that suits you. It’s just a beautiful place to spend your time and you can’t go wrong with any avenue you choose. We went for an early birthday celebration and I typically get a lot of requests to share our itinerary, so I wanted to dedicate a post to our quick day trip!

You can also see what we did for my 30th birthday weekend in Napa last year and my sister’s bachelorette party a couple years ago.

Also—skip to the end of this post to see a full list of Napa recommendations.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Vacation

This post is a bit delayed but I figured it’s better late than never! If you follow along on Instagram, you might already know we took a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico last month. And it was pretty wonderful. It’s somewhere I’ve been going the last 5 or so years ever since my parents bought a condo there. Fun fact, they actually honeymooned in Puerto Vallarta almost 40 years ago, so it’s always been a special place for them. Now, it’s a special place for all of us—my sister and her husband even got married there!

We feel incredibly grateful to have a wonderful home to stay there but, because of this, I unfortunately don’t have hotel recommendations. However, I’m always happy to try to help in any way I can, so feel free to reach out with any questions in that realm and I’ll do my very best.

Their building is located in Zona Romantica (the Romantic Zone), which is where we spent mostly all of our vacation. It’s filled with plenty of boutique hotels, art galleries, cafes, global restaurants, cute cobblestone streets, beaches and more.

The majority of this post is dedicated to what I wore but I’m also sharing a list of some of our favorite places to eat, plus things to do and see. I hope you enjoy!

Comfy LifeStride Sandals for Spring

If you’ve followed along with my blog and Instagram for a while, you probably know I don’t wear heels very often. Though, let’s be real, of course I love the lift and length they give. What woman wouldn’t? But because heels are generally not functional for my lifestyle, my idea of the perfect heel is one that’s low, practical for both day to night, and—most importantly— comfortable!

You could call me a bit of a low-heeled sandal connoisseur and I was so happy to find this Roxanne Heel by LifeStride from Zappos that checks every single thing on my must-have list: low heel (i.e. under 2 inches 🙌🏼), strappy style (love the double strap) and comfort above all else. LifeStride shoes are on-trend, easy to wear, perfect for 24/7 dressing and affordable. ✔️✔️✔️✔️

My Trunk Club Vacation Favorites

I shared a bit of my recent Trunk Club Trunk in my Instagram Stories over the weekend and I love how you guys are always so intrigued. You may remember earlier this year I vowed to shop less and buy with more intention and my Trunks have definitely helped with this. I know, I know—how is a box full of clothes helping you shop less, exactly? Well, to start, I have them set up to come every two months and concentrate on not shopping in between those months. I focus on asking my Stylist for classic, wardrobe staples and find that when I have to “check out” by providing feedback for each item, it helps me really pinpoint if I actually do need an item—or if I don’t. More about Trunk Club in THIS POST but if you’re interested in getting your own Trunk, you can use this link to be set up with my Stylist, Lauren. She’s amazing.

Anyway, back to this month’s Trunk and my vacation favorites! I asked Lauren to focus on vacation staples since we’re heading to Mexico next week and she sent a great mix of classic, effortless pieces and a few items that pushed me with just the right amount “trend.” I requested easy-breezy items, summer whites, sandals, etc and Lauren included just that. Without further ado, here are my Trunk Club Vacation Favorites…
