Don’t get me wrong—I love gingham but sometimes it can feel a little overly preppy for my personal taste. For this reason, I tend to gravitate towards black gingham or styles that are a bit edgy, feminine or unique. This Urban Outfitters gingham cinched sleeve blouse is just that. 

I love the smocked style which I always find super flattering. It gives a fitted bodice look without being “uncomfortably” tight. The sweet ruffle sleeves and puff detail adds such a great feminine flair and the golden yellow is oh-so-gorgeous for every season. I feel like this is one of those colors to help you branch out of your typical neutral tones because it still feels muted. It does also come in a pretty soft blue. 

Of course, I paired this top with my go-to summer denim, these 501 Levi’s, for an effortless vibe but I’ve seen it tucked into denim skirts. 

I’m wearing a small here but I probably could have gotten away with an x-small, as well. The sleeves do tend to slide off the shoulder but it works with the off-shoulder vibe.
