When I was a kid I used to close my right eye and wonder why my left eye was so blurry. I mean, not blurry-blurry and it was never enough that I didn't pass (is that what you say?) my vision tests, BUT it was enough to make me play this "close one eye and look at everything around the room with my slightly unclear eye" game. Which I'm not gonna lie, was oddly entertaining for me.

It wasn't until about 5 years ago that I actually went to an optometrist and it turns out I have slight astigmatism in my left eye. I ended up with very low prescription glasses and my first week of trying them felt very weird, but also very CLEAR! I was honestly amazed how much clearer things looked. Glasses: they really help your eyes, who knew? Sadly, my glasses-wearing phase didn't last.

In the last couple years, though, I've noticed my eyes feeling more and more strained, especially working at my computer all day. I recently got a new pair of glasses from Eye Buy Direct to help. I was really excited that not only do they have my prescription but also "Eyezen" which protects and provides comfort from digital screens AND can help reduce eye strain and improve sleep! Totally needed. I got the Prism Tortoise Frames

Not only do they have eyeglasses, but they also have sunglasses, which you can get with or without a prescription. Do any of you wear glasses? If you DO (or even if you don't and you just want a new pair of sunglasses), Eye Buy Direct is offering 20% off your purchase with code "gold20." The code is good through March of 2017 AND I just saw that their Cyber Monday BOGO deal is still going on through 11/30, so it's a great time to snag a new pair.

P.s. I'm writing this now with my super cool new glasses on and when I close my right eye, my left eye is like..way clear. Which is awesome and just what glasses are for—yay!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Layers & Purchases

From left to right: BlankNYC , Trouvé , cupcakes and cashmere

Excuse my fitting room selfies and Snapchat snaps here, but I wanted to share some of my favorites from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, as well as my first purchases. I am loving the layers and I swear I love summer, but now I'm really ready for fall. Thankfully San Francisco is cold at night, so I can wear booties and layers every season which is why they're one of my favorite purchases. I'm always looking for faux leather layers to add to my collection and the #Nsale does not disappoint this year.

I'm also a million percent obsessed with this BP Hooded Longline Cardigan. It's crazy soft and cozy and will be so great over leggings and tunics or for lounging at home. I got an XS. I probably would have gotten the XXS, but they didn't have it in store and I didn't want to wait to order it, because I have no patience.

BlankNYC is my absolute favorite brand for faux leather. The fit is incredible and they're so reasonably priced. I didn't purchase this All or Nothing mixed material jacket YET, but I'm pretty sure I will. It also comes in olive. If I can get my hands on this Suede Moto Jacket though, it's definitely my top choice.

The fit of these Hudson Krista jeans is insane. They're so comfy and I love the edginess and faded color. Fit true to size.

I love the stripes on this BP shirt and how I can wear it now with shorts and layered into fall. Wearing an XXS.

Perfect way to lighten up your faux leather. I love the color on this Trouvé drape front jacket. I'm wearing an XS.

Finally, I love love my new Steve Madden Sharini booties and AG jeans. I normally wear a 25 in denim, but I got the 24 in the jeans, because they fit tighter through the leg and ankle. I'm really picky about skinny jeans and prefer a super skinny fit. If you like a normal skinny fit, you can definitely go for your normal size. I love Steve Madden and the color and style of these ankle boots is really classic, but still unique thanks to the side slits. I usually wear an 8 or 8.5 and got the 8.5.

What are you loving in the #Nsale this year?

I don't know about you, but shoe care is generally not something I think about too often. Well, that's a lie. I think about it a lot when I look down and see my scuffed, yellowing leather boots, and my less than shiny "new" flats. So let me change that. Shoe care is generally not something I DO something about. And I don't know why. As women we change our shoes often, DAILY, and undoubtedly deal with wear and tear, unsightly scuffs, and worse--blisters, odor, etc. So, I finally did something about it thanks to The Solemates. A shoe care line created for women, by women. I loved hearing from one of the co-founders that they created the line when they noticed that shoe care products geared "to women" were so clearly made by men. That's when I realized WHY I hadn't been taking care of my shoes! There wasn't anything!

The first thing I was really excited to try was their Shoe Buff. Honestly, one of my favorite pairs of leather investments have looked horrendous for ages. Their Buff is super easy to use. You just...well, buff...with a sponge and with a few short strokes I was AMAZED at the difference. Seriously, check out the photo below. WHY did I not do this sooner?!

So the other two products I was really excited about are the Blister Blocker and Freshen. If you know me or follow along on my Instagram, you've probably noticed that I almost solely wear flats. All day. Every day. Flats, flats, flats. And some flats I can wear cute little lace socks with and some I just, well can't. And that means blisters--ow--and maybe more importantly (or at least more embarrassingly)--odor and just a general un-fresh feeling after a day in them with no socks. I mean, it can't just be me, right? So anyway, their Freshen is a mist that you spray in your shoes and it leaves a fresh baby powder scent that "eliminates all that gross bacteria to keep your toes smelling sweet!" My verdict: Totally works! I don't know if it's just me, but it even seemed to help keep my feet feeling dry. Win!

So, finally I got their Blister Blocker and I'm totally excited about this one too, because flats + no socks = blisters. It's a simple little balm that you rub on to reduce friction and prevent blisters. I'm particularly excited to use it when I break in a new pair of flats, which will hopefully be soon, because I need (want) new flats. This one is actually not available right now, but if you head to their site you can add your email to be notified when it is and I think it should only be a couple weeks!

So, The Solemates get two thumbs (or feet haha I think I'm delirious) up! Oh! And fun fact to finish with. They actually created the line after they invented The High Heeler. It's a little plastic guard that you pop on heels to prevent them from sinking into grass/getting stuck in wooden decks, etc. Very cool!

Thanks for reading and if you try them out, let me know!
